In 2261, John Sheridan and his forces won the Earth Alliance Civil War, overthrowing the increasingly dictatorial rule of EA President Clark. This victory, however, did not stop all of Clark's pet projects involving research into the technology of the ancient race known as the Shadows--it merely sent these already top-secret projects even further underground. While various of these groups would be encountered over the years (the EAS Excalibur's experiences in 2268 being one of the more famours), it wasn't until 2286 that they officially reappeared on the Galactic scene...
